How to make Makaronia Me Kima recipe (Greek macaroni)

Making our Makaronia Me Kima recipe is very simple and below we will talk about the steps you need to take to create this popular dish at home.

First you want to brown your meat in olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Finely dice your sweet onion and add it to the meat to cook.

Once the onion is well-cooked, add your tomato paste to the meat and mix together.

Add your spices to a small mixing bowl, then stir them into the meat.

Simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes.

While the Greek style meat sauce is simmering, prepare your Greek spaghetti according to the instructions on the bag.

Once your pasta is cooked and drained, add the meat to it and give it a good mix.

Shred your cheese and then add 2/3 of the grated cheese to your spaghetti. Thoroughly mix everything together, then cover it.

Let the spaghetti sit for about 10 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

  • 1 medium Red sweet onion
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Tomato paste
  • Allspice
  • Ground cinnamon Or 1 cinnamon stick
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt

  • Parmesan cheese Optional

Instructions
 

  • Brown ground beef in olive oil over medium heat.
  • Chop onion and add it to the meat. Cook until soft.
  • Add tomato paste to meat and mix it all together.
  • Add allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and pepper to small mixing bowl and stir together.
  • Stir in spices to meat mixture.
  • Let meat simmer on low for about 15 minutes.
  • Prepare spaghetti according to package directions.
  • Once pasta is cooked and drained, add the meat to it and mix it altogether.
  • Shred your cheese and then add 2/3 of it to the pasta and meat.
  • After you mix the cheese in, cover and let sit for about ten minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Plate your spaghetti, and sprinkle on the remaining cheese on top, as well as Parmesan cheese (optional).
